Welcome!

Welcome to Aumsville Cub Scout Pack 405!

PLEASE NOTE!

Until further notice, Den meetings are held on the FIRST Thursday and THIRD Thursday at 7pm (baring holidays).  We are still in between locations, so the meeting place will be announced one week before.  At this time, please check here first, or call  Cubmaster Dave 503-580-4677 OR your Den Leader Jason Perkey 503-991-0075 or Den Leader Drew Merrick 503-480-5240.  Until we have enough Adult Trained Leaders we will meet as a "combined den".  Den Leaders will call each parent ASAP with the meeting location prior to each Den Meeting.

Parent-Leader Committee meetings are held on the 1st Monday of every month at 7pm at Aumsville Fire House.

Pack meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month during the school year at 7pm at the Aumsville Community Center.

As your Cubmaster, I assure you I am working diligently to make sure that we have a meeting place that will be consistent each month.  I apologize for the confusion.  Thank you for your patience, and your enthusiasm is very encouraging!!

Cubmaster Dave

URGENT MESSAGE, PLEASE READ: Den Meeting Structure HAS CHANGED!!

Our Den Meeting format HAS CHANGED as of January 2012.  We are still working out the details; however, rank achievement and ADVANCEMENT IS our main focus.

What we have discovered is that it is CRITICAL that advancement, meeting the book requirements, is the Scout's and Parents responsibility in the home setting.  This being the case, OUR PACK IS DOING THINGS RIGHT!!  We are more the "rule" than the "exception" in how we are running our program.  We are doing it right; our GOLD Journey to Excellence Award proves that fact!!  You can be proud of what WE have accomplished as a Pack!!!

To make Advancement a priority, we must work as a unit through our Parent Leader (Pack) Committee to make sure that our boys are being offered enough Pack based activities and Den based outings.  To do this the Pack and the Pack Trainer in cooperation with the Cubmaster, Council, and District will work diligently to see that the "Two Deep Leadership" requirement is ALWAYS met and that background checks, Tour Permits, Medical Forms, etc. are completed or obtained in a timely manner.

It is my goal as Cubmaster that by the end of June 2012, that many of our boys will be ready to advance and that Webelos will be ready to crossover into the Boy Scouts.  I am very pleased with the progress we have made up to this point and my New Years Resolution and wish is that we continue onward to greatness for the Scouts in our care!

I promise to do my BEST in 2012 as Cubmaster for Pack 405 in Aumsville, OR.

Call "Cubmaster Dave" at 503-580-4677 with any comments or questions!!  Pass this along to other Scouts and their families too!!

Cub Scouting And Your Family
    The Cub Scout program helps to meet your boy's growth needs.  As a boy develops, he has specific needs such as;
    1. To learn new physical skills.  He can do this through games, sports, and crafts.
    2. To learn to get along with boys of his same age.  He needs to form friendships with other boys, to learn how to balance giving and receiving affection if he is to relate well to his peers.  He needs to belong to a group of boys his own age; a Cub Scout den helps fulfill these needs.
    3. To develop his mental processes.  By reading, writing, and calculating.  Opportunities to express ideas and influence others.  Move from preoccupation with self to understanding how and what others think of him.  Opportunities to observe, experiment, and learn self-reliance.  The Scouting advancement program will help him develop mentally.
    4. To develop a value system.  He is developing a sense of right and wrong, good and evil, what is fair and what is unfair.  He will do this by cooperating with other boys, by being taught, by adult examples, and from positive reinforcement.  He begins to develop democratic social attitudes.
    5. To develop personal independence.  Less dependent on adults, and the opportunity to exercise his own independence in his den and the pack while learning to get along with others.
